Surgeon General and the US EPA that as many as 20,000 lung cancer deaths are caused a year in the US. Homes checked by the US EPA found that nearly 1 in 3 homes had levels over 4pCi/L. This is 35 times as much radiation as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission would allow if a family was next to the fence of a radio active waste site.

Exposure comes from breathing and ingesting. Radon in the ground, ground water, or building materials enters working and living spaces and disintegrates into its decay products. Although in the groundwater and may expose us to radon by ingestion. It is the radon released from the water that is most important.
